Look at me
She said
I’ve got a feeling
“It’s odd”
I’d whine
“There’s complications
Blocking my view”
I’d be real if you touched me
“but you’re so far away,
Too far to distract”
But,
Distance is only what you let it be
“It’s got me”
Then she said to me;
Look, I’m on a mountain
Take me if you can
And I whined once more;
“It’s too high
I can’t climb the steeps of empathy and fickle pity”
She crooned and sent her tongue spiraling downward and
Through fumbling mumbled speech, I heard
The faintest bit she creeched
She spoke
“Abandon guilt and fear and ride me through the sunken depths of scorn and scowling spectators”
